Hate-Loss Challenge 2013 Information Page
Have you ever noticed that the tools needed to repair ourselves on the outside are plentiful and readily available? They come in the form of diets, exercise equipment, menu plans, gyms, diet aids, gadgets, specialized shoes and clothing – you name it. We can’t hide our weight from others and that too becomes a motivator. But feelings of regret, hopelessness, fear, humiliation, anger, self ridicule and belittlement are so much easier to hide; to pretend they don’t exist. The tools we need to fix those areas of our lives aren’t so readily available. So, we put on happy faces and pretend that we don’t mentally and emotionally attack ourselves with words we’d never dream of uttering to someone else.
On occasion I notice bloggers participating in weight loss challenges created by their peers. This is a different kind of challenge. A challenge for the mind for emotional health and happiness. By participating it is my hope that we all lose the self-hate we carry around with us every time we think, say or believe something negative about ourselves. Using words like loser, failure, ugly, fat, disgusting, no-good and stupid we are being robbed of our most important selves. Working on acquiring a healthy body is very important however, this exercise will help us realize that our mental health is just as important as our physical health. Welcome to the Hate-Loss Challenge.
Weekly Topic List:
There will be a specific topic prepared for each weekly exercise and we will blog or post a comment about our thoughts on the exercise every Thursday.
Group Therapy Thursday
This is a virtual meeting place to come together and work through our concerns, feelings, frustrations or breakthroughs that we’re experiencing during the challenge. It’s also where we can support each other and offer advice. All participants will post about their progress on Group Therapy Thursdays. You may write about the challenge on your blog as often as you’d like; just remember that everyone will meet back here at Fat Girl Wearing Thin every Thursday where you will do one of two things:
If you run a blog: share with your readers about your involvement in the Challenge. Write a post about your interaction with that week’s topic. You will then visit my blog and leave a comment with a link back to your progress post so that other participants can read, visit, and connect with you on your blog.
If you do not run a blog: Simply submit a progress report in the comment section of my blog each Thursday.
