This past weekend Craig and I dropped off over a dozen pieces of artwork for the gallery. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment when all was done and gave myself the evening to think about nothing other than Morrocan Food at a local restaurant in Indianapolis. I had Almond Chicken Tazine, which was cooked in this beautiful ceramic pot with a lid that rises into the shape of a cone with just enough of an opening to let out the steam. Inside, everything cooks slowly and marinates in its own juices. The taste was wonderful and it was nice to try something I’d never had before.
By Sunday I started making the switch to another host and server. While that was transferring the last three years of my writing over I started making lists of everything I need for the upcoming art fair. It’s a little more than two weeks away and I’ve spent the last two days signing and assembling prints into cellophane sleeves. Next will be working on hand crafted note cards and framing.
When I get into mundane work such as this I tend to muddle through with Spotify playing in the background until the dogs get so underfoot they pull me away from my tasks, I take a break and we all go for a walk. Let me rephrase: the dogs get a break and we go for a walk. My idea of a break is taking a nice glass of iced tea outside and sitting by the creek waiting for that heron to show up so I can nab a photo of him (it might happen!). I rarely take breaks however, but on Tuesday I was happy to because Vickie came for a visit! She happened to be in town with her youngest and middle and we all had a really nice visit. What a charming, knowledgeable, lovely woman she is. Her children are equally as charming and so interesting to talk to. We all hung out by the creek watching the ducks and fish and I felt renewed after having some time away from my repetitive, non-glamorous tasks.
Not having painted for over a week I had a brilliant idea a couple of days ago to engage with my fans on Facebook, asking them to choose which bird in my Doodle Series to paint next. I mentioned that once a decision was made I would be auctioning off the original painting there on Saturday. Here is a sneak peak of the bird that was chosen for me:
This photo shows him sans his doodles which I added today with marker. He is now done and drying next to my dehumidifier. It will be interesting to hold my first auction on FB. I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to do it yet or if it will even be successful (there’s always a fear when an artist participates in an auction that no one will bid on an item – and yes, that’s happened to me before. Not pretty). But it will be a chance to connect to others so I’m sure it will be fine regardless of how it turns out.
For those of you who have been wondering about Craig – he is still symptom-free! As long as he watches what he eats he has no issues with his digestion. His doctor has prescribed him a probiotic to add to his diet which he is doing. When I read about this OTC probiotic (it’s called Align) and saw all of the positive reviews I decided to add it to my diet regimen as well. Among other digestive problems it seems to work quite well for those who suffer from IBS.
Now I am off to take inventory of my accumulation of frames. Have a great weekend and thank you for your patience as I completed Phase One of Operation Blog Makeover.
