Despite my back trying to convince me otherwise, I feel good today. I just finished matting and framing my last piece of artwork that’s going down to Lilly’s Soap Kitchen and Artisan Market in Indianapolis – this one also happens to be the painting I’ve been working on:
This means that tomorrow I can putter around preparing items for travel on Saturday. When I get back, I’ll have nearly two weeks to get ready for the art fair and just maybe, can squeeze in another painting, but that’s being overly optimistic.
While on the subject of artwork, I received an email a week or so ago from See Me, which is an artist site that I joined several weeks ago. Based out of New York, this is a great platform for artists to congregate, build a portfolio and gain support from admirers, family, friends and like-minded individuals.
In the email I was informed that my work was chosen to be part of an art exhibit in New York! I was given a link to my RSVP and was told that I could invite up to three other people to join me at the opening event – which is tonight, by the way. What a wonderful experience that would have been, but there was no way I could have made arrangements to go. Still, I find it to be a very exciting step in my career as an artist and feel like I am on solid ground in the path that I’ve chosen.
When I haven’t been working I’ve been trying to keep up with my yard and I’m sorry to say that I’m failing miserably. I have one of those backyards that both pounces and goes in for the kill when it’s been neglected, even if only for a week. It’s nearly impossible to get caught up after that unless Craig and I work together. There just seems to be so little time this summer, though. Luckily, I seem to be much better at letting things go this year and am just enjoying the parts that still look decent, like my creek. Earlier in the week I pulled on my rubber, thigh-high water boots, grabbed my camera and took some photos from inside and around the water. Here are some of my favorites, and you might just see bits and pieces in future paintings:

I am always taking photos of my little fairy…

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week. Any special plans?
