Update: It took just a little over an hour to find a winner of my giveaway, so I thought I’d go ahead and post more about what I did while in Charleston, SC. Now you’ll find captions with the photos I posted from earlier:
You’ll notice that there aren’t any photos of me, here. There is a reason for this. We had one day of sunshine the whole week we were in Charleston. The rest of the time we had frigid, blustery winds and rain. Needless to say, we didn’t get out much since it was so cold. Here, on our last day we must have walked 5 miles all over the city taking as many interesting photos as we could.
Charleston is a beautiful place, FULL of history and everyone should see it at least once. But it is quite expensive there and if you’re on a budget, it’s very easy to run out of money before your trip is half over. But we wouldn’t know anything about that
Winking smile
Initially, my overall thoughts on our vacation was that I was pretty disappointed. However, my husband – the man who can laugh at a fart joke with the best of ‘em – said something to me while we were stuck at the airport that changed my perspective:
“I had a really nice time with you this week.”
Me, rolling my eyes: “What do you mean? As far as vacations go, it was a disaster!”
Him: “No, it wasn’t. We spent the whole week together. It didn’t matter where we were.”
Of course, he was right (but don’t tell him I said that.) We don’t get a lot of quality time together so it really was nice having him all to myself for a few days, even if we spent most of them watching the rain outside.
Have a great Leap Day, everyone. Do something crazy and out of the ordinary – it won’t count against you! At least that’s what I’ve heard.

No clue, really, but the architecture reminds me of Palm Beach, FL. But that may because I’ve been thinking about being there this time last year.
Not going for the prize, but love these kind of geo puzzles. Charleston, SC?

Bummer I missed out but congrats to “caryesings,! I’ve only been to Charleston once but one of my favorite scenes was along the waterfront with the columned houses and gorgeous porches like picture 3.
Glad you had a great time!
Such a shame – weather can mess up most anything. But take it from someone who knows. When Charleston truly shows her finery, there is hardly a more beautiful place in all the world. Next time, try early May. And yes, no doubt about it, it’s expensive.
that part of the country (n my opinion) is a real timing challenge. It is either too cold/rainy or it is muggy/hot beyond belief. I suspect there are just a few weeks in the spring and a few in the fall that can be totally counted on for the perfect weather.
So sorry that your trip was disappointing. It certainly doesn’t help when you have a flight delay, it rains all week and the area is pricey. You got some great pictures though! I love what your husband said though and it’s so true. How very sweet of him to say that.
Ironically, my one and only trip to Charleston was less than perfect as well. Arrived sick, spent the night feverish and achy in my B&B bed, and left next day so I could be sick at home. Looking forward to going back and actually sight-seeing rather than just the drive through I did.
So sorry about the weather! Charleston is on my list of places to visit.
What a lovely comment by your husband! What a lucky man he is
Those pictures are beautiful, but it sounds like your husband is even better! Happy Leap Day!
Great place to visit. I went once with a girlfriend.
What a sweet, sweet husband you have!!! I love Charleston. I am sorry you had bad weather. You can get bikes from most hotels there and ride around. Now that you are a bike rider…….. maybe you will visit again one day. It is not too far from SC to NC either! I would LOVE to have tea in person!!! xoxo
GRRR….darn about the rain, but your husband’s sweet comments really did put things in perspective. And for the record, I can laugh at a fart joke too!
Not overly proud of that…but I can. Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
Awesome pictures. I have now added another city to my “to visit” list. Savannah is still in the number one slot!
Wow, your husband is so sweet for saying that. It made me smile.
Aww, when I read your husbands comment even I forgot that you said it had rained. How sweet!
