1 quick note B 4 Wkd

Much to gripe about say.  Little time.

Condensed version.

Still sick.   Yuck.

Wednesday = blur.  Husband called.

“Honey…help!  Come get me.  Back went out. Can’t walk.  Stuck on a lunch counter stool.”

No fever delirium.  I heard correctly.

Wrapped up. Drove to restaurant.

Message to two waitresses and one frequent diner: thank you for helping me get my husband into the car.

Drove home.  Husband crawls on all fours to get into house.

Thrown-out back trumps a cold.  Time to buck-up.

Him: doctor visit, steroids, muscle relaxer, pain medication. Me: zinc, Vitamin C, lots of tea, tissue with lotion (Ahhh…)

Him: off in dreamland.  Me:  winner of Wife of the Year award (I, I….I have so many people to thank!)

No writing; no reading.  No energy.  No time.

Friday = Thank God it’s….

Back in full swing on Monday.  All will be well with the world again.

Let it be so.

C U then.

XO,

Ellen

One word to hubby: acupuncture! My cleaning lady’s husband, who works in construction, threw his back out. He couldn’t even sit up to eat. Muscle relaxants, steroids, etc. did nothing. She drove him to my acupuncturist’s office with him lying on the back seat of the car. He walked out. It can take a few visits, but acupuncture is so much more effective than even the most powerful pain killers. I say this as someone who has had one back surgery, two other extremely painful back episodes, plus numerous relatively small but very scary periods of pain.

Two words to you: neti pot. Clean out those sinuses pronto! And use the neti pot at the very first sign of a cold. Sinus cleaning stops colds in their tracks.

Good luck and congratulations on your best wife ever award. You deserve it.

Wow, Wendy already beat me to it! But it’s funny, I’ve been toying around w/acupuncture since I attended a brief seminar a couple of yrs ago, & even in my far-from-expert hands the results are fairly remarkable…
(Client brought in a typical case: middle-aged Dachshund who had thrown HIS back out; I applied 12 needles & you could feel the muscle spasms relax… but he is getting conventional pain pills + muscle relaxants too)
The neti pot is a great thing for your sinuses too – I use the syringe w/nasal adaptor since I’m all about getting it done faster.

another adventure! So sorry to both of you.
I agree with Acupuncture, by the way.
I just got hit with my own illness. Sore throat, hurts to swallow.
I think I was too cocky about being the only one around who doesn’t get sick… grrr….
    Here’s to smooth recoveries.

Oh my , Ellen. Have a nice cup of tea and stay in bed (or on the couch, your choice) for the weekend! Hope you are all better by Monday!

  5. Aiya! That sounds like a nightmare. Hope you both get to feeling better over the weekend. Neither of those sounds like a whole lot of fun.

  6. Hanlie says:

Oh dear, sounds like a quiet and restful weekend for you both. I hope he’s not a difficult patient! Feel better soon!

  7. Caron says:

Goodness! It’s always something, eh? Relax as much as you can. Get better soon.

Sending healthy healing vibes to your home!!

  9. Polar's Mom says:

Ay carumba! What a wifey you are! I know sick husbands are not always *pleasant*!

  10. Tim says:

    Hope everyone feels better soon!

  11. You are definitely super wife! Hope you and hubby get lots of rest this weekend!!! Do try a neti pot if you can get your hands on it. I find that they shorten the cold and clear out all that nose gunk.

  12. Hoping next week is much better! Quite the witty little post you were able to write though through your misery – :)

  13. didi says:

I completely agree with the suggestions for acupuncture. It is a very effective, and generally cheap alternative to drugs and doctors. I am also a fan of chiropractors, but sometimes a good one can be tough to find.
You totally are getting the Wife of the Year award, so start writing your speech!

  14. Jan says:

Wow! You have got a lot going on girl! Praying both you and your hubby start feeling some relief soon. And yes, you do get the “wife of the year” award with the biggest trophy! :)

  15. Well shoot. Sickness and hurt hubby trumps yard work muscle aches. Thus, you have earned a “Poor Ellen, poor, poor Ellen” shoulder pity-pat.

Hope the recovery for both of you is speedy!

  16. Tami says:

I am sending you both prayers and good wishes for healing.

  17. Erin says:

Hope you were able to recover over the weekend!
